چکیده

Increasing market demands concerning customer requirements and market pressure from competitors force several enterprises to diversify their product range. Offering more and more product variants has the implicit impact of growing development process complexity. Although many configuration problems can be solved with knowledge-based configuration, the usage of configuration tools is very often restricted to domain experts. In this paper we extend knowledge-based configuration with a novel plan recognition approach. We show that the combination of configuration and plan recognition simplifies the use of configuration tools for nonconfiguration experts and non-domain experts.

Learning and Predicting User Behavior for Particular Resource Use

To successfully interact with users in providing useful information, intelligent user interfaces need a mechanism for recognizing, characterizing, and predicting user actions. In particular, it is our interest to develop the mechanism for recognizing and predicting simple user intentions, i.e., an activity involves in using particular resources. Much work to date in adaptive user interfaces has...

Dynamic User Modeling for Sketch-Based User Interface

This paper presents a strategy of dynamic user modeling for sketchbased user interface. A user model is defined as an incremental decision tree for a specific user. A drawing style modeling process is designed to model user’s temporal drawing performances among inputting strokes, and to predict the possible shape in term of fuzzy matching. A user mediation process is proposed based on relevance...

Modeling Perceptual Similarity as Analogy Resolves the Paradox of Difference Detection

There is a paradoxical dissociation between recognizing that two stimuli are different and recognizing how they are different. We show that this dissociation can be captured by modeling perceptual similarity as a species of analogical processes. Using SME to model comparison, we show that the dissociation arises naturally from different stages in the analogical mapping process. Rather than rely...

Incremental Prediction of Configurator Input Values Based on Association Rules - A Case Study

In many configurator applications, the user is required to specify a multitude of configuration options interactively. One way of making the configuration process more convenient for the user is to pre-fill the input or selection fields of the user interface with appropriate defaults. Possible strategies to determine default values for example include the selection based on domain knowledge or ...
